World Economy and Bangladesh

The developing world has not been as much affected by the global recession as the developed world.

  • In 2008-09, the economic growth rate of developed economy was -3.4%, whereas that of emerging and developing economies was 1.7%.
  • Asian countries, including Bangladesh, performed better than others. A few economies of the world (USA, Japan, France, Korea, Germany, UK) started recovering from the second half of 2009.
  • The recovery may be more extensive in 2010, but at a slower rate.
